Programs
Integrated Mosquito Management
SCMAC utilizes a fully integrated mosquito management approach to controlling mosquitoes
Public Education
We take part in public and school events to inform residents about mosquitoes, their life cycle and habitat, and how they spread diseases.
Residents are also informed about how the SCMAC program works and what services are offered.
Source Reduction
By reducing the habitat of mosquitoes, especially artificial, we can limit the spread of mosquitoes, and thus disease.
Our annual tire collection is one such method.
Disease Surveillance
Our Biology Department monitors mosquito, bird, and disease activity around the county. Equipment and products are regularly tested and calibrated for efficiency.
Larva Control
By treating water during the day, we target the aquatic stages of the mosquito life cycle. This proactive measure prevents mosquitoes from maturing into adults, thus limiting the spread of disease.
Adult Control
This reactive program targets mosquito adults. Our trucks spray during the night after sunset when the adults are most active. The ULV sprayers are calibrated to target mosquitoes.
